Abstract
The author, a serial entrepreneur and experienced business person, writes about his concept of “The Monergy Flow,” which he describes as “a model developed over the years—through failure, coaching, learning and curiosity—that helps align money, purpose, and human connection.” He looks back from the perspective of turning 50 years old to his days as a young business owner, with a personal training company, JMHfitness, which he says probably would have failed without the guidance of a client who happened to be a business coach. The client taught him “Measure what's happening in your business, and use those measurements to make better decisions,” and “Business is all about people, relationships, and human connections.” As the business became more successful, he thought more deeply about the psychological underpinnings of money, and of businesses as constructs. This eventually led to The Monergy Flow, depicted in Figure 1 and explained in more depth in the text. He believes the “model shows that financial success and human well-being aren't opposing forces. They fuel each other. Businesses that invest in relationships, culture, and purpose make more money in the long run. They retain better employees, attract more loyal customers, and create lasting impact.”
