Social work and global conflict: An integrated framework for practice

Abstract

Global conflicts pose significant human rights and social justice challenges for social work. This article examines the impact of global conflicts on social work and the profession’s role in addressing the needs of conflict-affected communities. A literature review informed the development of an integrated practice framework involving four elements: ethical and just practice, policy development, community engagement and partnerships, and social worker well-being. The author argues that social work must adopt a critical approach to injustice and promote equitable and peaceful resolutions. In addition, it is essential to challenge post-colonial ideologies and develop culturally appropriate, decolonised and localised practice interventions.
