Abstract
Lectin based paper chromatographic assay system was developed for the detection of kidney infections. The system is able to detect Gram-positive as well as Gram-negative bacteria. The sensitivity of method (CFU 8 × 104/ml after dilution 5000 times) is sufficient for clinical use. The Presence of glucose does not influence the sensitivity of the assay, permitting its use in diabetic patients. The presence of albumin in urine up to 0.1 % reduces sensitivity to a dilution of 3500 times.
