Abstract

Corrosion around temporary skeletal anchorage devices (TSADs) poses a potential risk in orthodontic treatment. The complex oral environment, comprising various chemical and biological factors, can accelerate the corrosion process, leading to complications such as localized inflammation. This paper explores two clinical patients in which the effects of corrosion around the TSADs resulted in the need to deconstruct the TSAD-retained appliance despite the TSADs remaining stable. We examine the potential corrosion mechanisms with proposed recommendations to minimize risks.
