Abstract
We describe herein a simple, scalable preparation of [Ag(C6H6)3][BArF4] and demonstrate its utility as a halide abstraction reagent in the preparation of a coordinately unsaturated Co2+ complex. We hope this report resolves the ambiguous literature surrounding putative “Ag[BArF4]” and facilitates the use of this reagent by others in the synthetic community.
