Abstract
Substituents of the hydrindacene type allow the isolation of crystalline stable triplet arylnitrenes from photodecomposition of the corresponding aryl azides, while phenyl azide is known to produce singlet phenylnitrene that reacts to didehydroazepine via benzazirine.
