Abstract
Benzoic acid hydrogenation faces a persistent activity–selectivity trade-off. Ru/HfB2 overcomes this challenge via strong metal–support interactions that generate electron-rich Ruδ− sites, enabling >99% conversion and selectivity under optimized conditions.
