Abstract

Formalin is still used as a sterilizing agent in Iranian operating rooms, despite well-established carcinogenic and respiratory risks. This letter highlights recent national data showing excessive formaldehyde exposure among OR personnel. It advocates for the urgent implementation of safer sterilization alternatives and updated national infection control policies.
