Abstract

A recent trend in higher education is the dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The dissolution of such programs impacts historically marginalized students, especially those with multiple marginalized identities such as Black disabled students. These students face additional barriers and gaps in services, which have educational and occupational consequences. Counselor educators are in a unique position to support these students by advocating for the preservation of DEI initiatives, engaging in leadership roles, and conducting further research.
