Abstract

To clarify the phylogenomic relationship of the genus Youngia and its alliances, we firstly determined the complete chloroplast genome sequence of Youngia japonica. It was a typical circular form composed of 152,540 bp. Molecular phylogenetic analysis using the complete chloroplast genomes revealed that the genera Youngia and Crepidiastrum form a clade within the tribe Cichorieae. However, the taxonomic position of Y. simulatrix was controversial because it was not embedded in the genus Youngia. In the other hands, it was suggested the psbA-trnH region as a good molecular marker to identify Y. japonica and its close relate taxa Y. longiflora.
