These compounds were obtained by reduction of white phosphorus with precursors of the early non-classical divalent lanthanides, as reported by Peter W. Roesky et al. in their Communication (e202503403). The central P<sub>14</sub><sup>4-</sup> tetradecaphosphide Zintl ion, can be interpreted as a P-P bridged dimer of two nortricyclane P<sub>7</sub><sup>2-</sup> units. The artwork was designed by Alicia K. Abstract
The cover picture shows the largest polyphosphides of the f-elements, which is a P144- polyphosphide Zintl anion coordinated to two lanthanide and two potassium ions. These compounds were obtained by reduction of white phosphorus with precursors of the early non-classical divalent lanthanides, as reported by Peter W. Roesky et al. in their Communication (e202503403). The central P144- tetradecaphosphide Zintl ion, can be interpreted as a P-P bridged dimer of two nortricyclane P72- units.
