[Expert consensus on clinical practice of outside-in longitudinal capsulotomy in hip arthroscopy].

Abstract

The outside-in longitudinal capsulotomy is an emerging and appealing technique in hip arthroscopy. This technique has its unique features in portal establishment and capsular incision, differing from the traditional inter-portal capsulotomy. Although its clinical use is becoming increasingly popular, there is no consensus in clinical practice. The Hip Joint and Spine Group of the Sports Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Hip joint Group of the Sports Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association initiated this project to reach an expert consensus using a modified Delphi method through literature analysis and expert discussion. This consensus finally gives 14 recommendations covering the definition, indications, key step of capsulotomy, capsular management, postoperative rehabilitation and the advantages and disadvantages of this technique, aiming to provide guidance and reference for the standardized application of the outside-in longitudinal capsulotomy.
