Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the sublethal effects of BPA on the narrow-clawed crayfish, in terms of haemolymph parameters and histopathological changes after 24 and 96 h exposure times. The study was conducted in semi-static bioassays with 1.14 and 0.114 mg/L BPA concentrations. The total haemocyte counts significantly decreased in the 24 h exposed to BPA (<em>p</em> < 0.05). The lactate, glucose, and calcium values of haemolymph were significantly increased in the BPA-exposed groups (<em>p</em> < 0.05). The gills and the hepatopancreas tissues of the species revealed histopathological alterations at 1.14 mg/L following exposure to BPA in both exposure durations. In addition to full length papers, short communications, full-length reviews and mini-reviews, Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology will publish in depth assessments of special problem areas. The latter publications may exceed the length of a full length paper three to fourfold. A basic requirement is that the assessments are made under the auspices of international groups of leading experts in the fields concerned. The information examined may either consist of data that were already published, or of new data that were obtained within the framework of collaborative research programmes. Provision is also made for the acceptance of minireviews on (classes of) compounds, toxicities or mechanisms, debating recent advances in rapidly developing fields that fall within the scope of the journal.
