Abstract

We aim to survey the significant role human creativity has played in shaping the development of chemical processes used to produce a wide range of commodity feedstocks and products over the course of history. We will trace the evolution of these processes over thousands of years, highlighting how human innovation has driven advancements. Additionally, we will consider how the emerging potential of machine creativity could transform these established methods and potentially revolutionize the way chemical processes are developed in the future.
