Abstract
Introduction
Aging and psychiatric problems affect balance and proprioception. Specific training in these areas, over 11 to 12 weeks, can significantly improve motor skills and reduce the risk of falls in older adults.
Material and methods
An observational, analytical study was carried out to evaluate proprioception, gait and balance in male psychiatric patients using tests such as Tinetti, Romberg, Tandem and Get Up and Go for. An exercise program was designed to improve these abilities and functionality within the mental health hospital in Villahermosa, Tabasco, in 2024.
Results
Seven psychiatric patients were evaluated and improved their balance, coordination and proprioception. Final assessments showed significant improvements in overall functionality and reduced risk of falls, with the Tinneti test (P = .022), Get Up and Go (0.021), Romberg, Tandem and diadokinesia improving at the end of the study.
Conclusion
The use of physiotherapy improves proprioception, balance and mobility in older adults in a mental health hospital.
These tests were applied to a total series of 7 cases.
Get Up and Go for等测试对男性精神病患者的本体感觉、步态和平衡进行观察性分析研究。 (P = 0.022), Get Up and Go (0.021), Romberg, Tandem和运动障碍在研究结束时得到改善。
