Abstract

Background: Gaming addiction has emerged as a significant public health concern, particularly among adolescent populations. Excessive and problematic gaming behaviors can lead to various negative consequences, including impaired academic performance, social withdrawal, sleep disturbances, and psychological distress. As the prevalence of gaming addiction continues to rise, there is a pressing need to develop effective interventions to address this issue and mitigate its impact on adolescent mental health. Hence, this study targets to design a comprehensive intervention module to combat gaming addiction among adolescents. Following a mixed methodology in the study design, this protocol will incorporate both qualitative and quantitative techniques for data collection. Results obtained will be analyzed and validated to ensure the efficacy of the module.

Materials and methods: The protocol will follow the ADDIE model's stages, which are Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. A qualitative investigation, literature review, and expert consultations will be conducted throughout the analytical phase. The design phase will establish learning objectives, educational methodologies, and an implementation and evaluation strategy. During the development phase, a framework will be developed, which will be implemented as a pilot study During the implementation phase, a pilot study will be done, which includes formative evaluations.

Conclusion: This comprehensive, evidence-based approach will promote healthier gaming habits and mitigate negative consequences. By reducing the impact on families and healthcare systems, the module has the potential to enhance public health and therapeutic practices. This research will not only advance understanding of gaming addiction but also set a precedent for future intervention strategies.
