Abstract
The release of harmful pollutants such as aromatic nitro compounds (ANCs) and synthetic organic dyes into the water bodies has posed a serious concern to the environment as well as humans. ANCs are considered to be very harmful for human health hence categorized as priority pollutants by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The need of the present time is to check these harmful organic pollutants from water bodies and other media using advanced techniques. There are several methods for the removal of these pollutants from water bodies, such as adsorption, reduction, oxidation, etc. Herein, we have synthesized a Schiff base dinuclear copper (II) complex (SBDC) for rapid reduction of ANCs and organic dyes. The synthesized Schiff base ligand (SBL) and SBDC were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, ESI-MS, UV–visible spectroscopy, elemental analysis, EDX, elemental mapping, and FE-SEM. Theoretical studies like structure optimization, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and frontier molecular orbital (FMO) also done for SBL and SBDC. The SBDC was found to be very efficient for the reduction of aromatic nitro compounds and synthetic organic dyes. Reaction kinetics, rate constant, and other calculations were performed using pseudo-first-order kinetics for 4-nitrophenol, 4-nitroaniline, nitrobenzene, methyl orange, and Rhodamine B.

Tetrahedron publishes full accounts of research having outstanding significance in the broad field of organic chemistry and its related disciplines, such as organic materials and bio-organic chemistry.
Regular papers in Tetrahedron are expected to represent detailed accounts of an original study having substantially greater scope and details than that found in a communication, as published in Tetrahedron Letters.
Tetrahedron also publishes thematic collections of papers as special issues and ''Reports'', commissioned in-depth reviews providing a comprehensive overview of a research area.
