To guide and standardize HRSV control and prevention among the elderly population, School of Population Medicine and Public Health, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College established a multidisciplinary expert panel to develop this expert consensus. Based on domestic and global research progress, evidence, and prevention/control experience, this expert consensus focuses on key technical issues including HRSV disease burden, surveillance, prevention/control strategies, vaccine application and recommendations. Abstract

Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) is one of the most common pathogens causing acute lower respiratory infections in children globally and poses a significant burden of severe respiratory disease among elderly and adults with underlying conditions.
