[New recommendations for maternal-infant care in HIV].

Abstract

In 2023, BREACH («Belgium Research on AIDS and HIV Consortium») presented new Belgian consensus guidelines for perinatal management of HIV-positive mothers. This article aims to highlight them. We review maternal management, discussing the importance of antiretroviral agents during pregnancy, the recommended follow-up and the preferred mode of delivery. The specificities for the infant will be addressed and include management at birth, post-exposure prophylaxis, new developments regarding breast-feeding and necessary follow-up.
