Abstract

Plant cell cultures of Taxus is a noteworthy resource of structurally novel taxanes. Here, five new 14‑oxygenated 6/8/6-type taxanes (15, mediataxanes DH) were isolated and their structures with absolute configurations were elucidated on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic data and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The in vitro biological activity assays showed that mediataxane D (1) exhibited potent cytotoxicity against cervical carcinoma HeLa cells with an IC50 value of 4.5 μM.
