Abstract

The French healthcare system is in the throes of a deepening crisis, affecting all sectors. Despite spending 12% of gross domestic product, healthy life expectancy is making little progress, chronic diseases affect 35% of the population, and health inequalities are widening. A transformation is needed, based on prevention, the restructuring of front-line care and the training of nurses specialized in public health, essential to improving the health of populations.
