Abstract
This study examines the lived experiences of violence against women belonging to low socioeconomic status (SES) in the context of floods in Assam. It analyzes how women are exposed to varying levels of susceptibility exclusively due to their gender roles and norms. The article presents a qualitative analysis of the data collected through semistructured interviews of 96 participants with the victims of different forms of violence. The analysis shows and discusses the participants' experiences of being a woman, particularly those with a low SES, who faces more vulnerabilities and a significant imbalance of power in times of flood.
