Abstract
The rapid adoption of renewable energy raises concerns about power stability due to their intermittent nature, highlighting the need for a reliable energy supply. Green hydrogen emerges as a promising solution, generated from renewable sources with high energy retention capabilities, making it a key player in transitioning to a fully renewable energy system. The transition to green hydrogen as a sustainable energy source requires identifying optimal locations for production to address both economic and efficiency concerns. This study presents a site suitability assessment for green hydrogen production in Bangladesh using a GIS-based framework that integrates the AHP and fuzzy AHP logic. The proposed methodology evaluates thirteen key factors affecting site suitability the results identify the central region of Bangladesh as highly favorable for establishing large-scale, photovoltaic-powered hydrogen production facilities. Spatial analyses reveal that 43 % and 42 % of this region's surface area is classified as “very high” suitability according to fuzzy AHP and AHP criteria, respectively. These findings provide valuable insights for investors and policymakers by highlighting the potential of Bangladesh's central region for green hydrogen development. The study's framework offers a replicable approach for site selection in similar contexts, supporting the advancement of green hydrogen infrastructure in response to growing global demand.
