Abstract

This study aims to examine how the perceptions of liminal experiences in girlfriend getaway (GGA) travel transform women's eudaimonic well-being through satisfaction with GGA liminal experiences. It extracted 16 measurable items of four dimensions of GGA liminal experiences through panel experts and further confirmed this measurement scale through exploratory factor analysis. The results of a survey of 322 GGA tourists indicated that gender dynamics, existential authenticity, and empowerment directly affect building eudaimonic well-being, but escapism does not. However, travel satisfaction mediates the effect of these four GGA liminal experiences on eudaimonic well-being. This study contributes to female tourism research by exploring how liminal experiences in travel build eudaimonic well-being. It also provides researchers with measurable items of the four dimensions of liminal experiences in travel in future studies. Recommendations were provided to promote GGAs.
