Abstract
We obtained A549 and HeLa cell lines that survived and showed stable growth after acute X-ray irradiation at a dose of 15 Gy (hereinafter referred to as A549RR and HeLaRR). Comparative studies of the proliferative activity of original (A549, HeLa) and survived (A549RR, HeLaRR) cells and their sensitivity to additional X-ray irradiation at doses of 2, 4, and 6 Gy by the clonogenic capacity and migration potential (scratch-wound test) were carried out. It was found that the doubling time of the cell population for the A549RR and HeLaRR lines was significantly lower than for the original non-irradiated cells without additional exposure. A549RR and HeLaRR cell lines demonstrated higher resistance to additional X-ray irradiation in terms of clonogenic ability. Migration potential, as one of the critical processes during tumor metastasis, appeared to be significantly higher for A549RR cells up to 24 h after irradiation at a dose of 2 Gy and up to 48 h after irradiation at a dose of 4 Gy. Migration of HeLaRR cells was significantly higher without additional exposure and after irradiation at doses of 2 and 4 Gy, while after irradiation at a dose of 6 Gy, migration activity of HeLaRR cells was significantly suppressed compared to original cells.

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine presents original peer reviewed research papers and brief reports on priority new research results in physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, pharmacology, immunology, microbiology, genetics, oncology, etc. Novel trends in science are covered in new sections of the journal - Biogerontology and Human Ecology - that first appeared in 2005.
World scientific interest in stem cells prompted inclusion into Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine a quarterly scientific journal Cell Technologies in Biology and Medicine (a new Russian Academy of Medical Sciences publication since 2005). It publishes only original papers from the leading research institutions on molecular biology of stem and progenitor cells, stem cell as the basis of gene therapy, molecular language of cell-to-cell communication, cytokines, chemokines, growth and other factors, pilot projects on clinical use of stem and progenitor cells.
The Russian Volume Year is published in English from April.
