Abstract
Sports club work is low-threshold and reaches around 60% of young people. The aim was to evaluate the training program "Mentally fit in sports clubs" run by the association "Irrsinnig Menschlich e.V.". Trainers are educated about mental health crises. In a pre-post survey (N=181), the importance of the topic of mental health, attitudes and experiences with mental crises were investigated.48% of the trainers (51.9% female, age 32) were concerned about the mental health of their trainees and 73.3% rated the topic of "mental health" as important. Their own experience of a mental health crisis influenced their own attitudes (β=- 0,24).The training was able to reach a heterogeneous group in a short time, informing, sensitizing and motivating them to deal with mental health crises. Trainers can play an important role in health promotion.
