The structures, especially the unique N−B linkages, were discussed based on the single crystal analysis and DFT calculations. Compared to the parent BODIPY, the unsubstituted complex <strong>3 a</strong> exhibited similar absorption maximum and three times larger Stokes shift. Abstract
