Abstract
An experiment to measure the electric dipole response of 50Ca by Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics has been carried out at RIKEN - RIBF. The combination of the SAMURAI spectrometer, the γ-ray detector array CATANA and both NeuLAND demonstrator and NEBULA for neutron detection allow to reconstruct the excitation energy spectra by invariant mass spectroscopy.
The reaction channels 50Ca → 49Ca+n and 50Ca → 48Ca+n+n have been investigated. One sharp peak at low neutron relative energy for the 1 neutron emission channel may be a candidate for a Pygmy Dipole Resonance. Correlation of γ-ray and neutron energy shows possible structure effect in the decay of the 50Ca projectile.
