Abstract

The model for residential establishments for the dependent elderly (Ehpad) is currently in crisis, both in terms of the relevance of its accommodation offering, its attractiveness to professionals, and its economic model. Against this backdrop, the University Hospital of Brest has decided to innovate by transforming its Ehpads into an innovative housing estate for the elderly, with 400 residents and a truly home-like environment. This transformation project is built around a new work philosophy centered on the resident, and an architectural project designed as a home, drawing on research findings and mobilizing an artificial intelligence tool known as the "augmented ear" for caregivers.
