Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a frequent systemic inflammatory polyarthritis. In recent years, considerable knowledge has been gained in the treatment and diagnosis field. This review will address RA in general, focusing on the effect of the newest treatment option: janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors. Furthermore, using JAK inhibitors to treat RA in a Danish context will be discussed. In conclusion, JAK inhibitor treatment is an effective treatment for rheumatoid arthritis - however, potential serious side effects and a high price limit its use.
