Abstract

Does dispersal facilitate the evolution of self-fertilization? McCauley et al. (2025) showed experimentally that dispersal from unfavorable conditions supports the evolution of self-fertilization in a nematode worm, thereby providing experimental evidence for Baker's law. This finding is in line with previous theoretical studies on the evolution of self-fertilization.
