DEGAS (DEspec Germanium Array Spectrometer) is a key instrument of DESPEC and is planned to be operated in most future experimental campaigns. To further improve the sensitivity of the array, shielding of the environmental background with active and passive components is planned. Shielding directly behind the HPGe detectors is based on the BGO scintillation detectors. Abstract
