Abstract
WHO's new guideline advocating for the switch from regular salt (sodium chloride) to potassium-enriched salt substitutes marks a transformative step in global efforts to reduce hypertension, stroke, and cardiovascular disease.1 Despite pioneering salt reduction strategies since the early 2000s, the UK faces a stagnation in progress.2, 3 The new guideline should provide a renewed impetus for a stronger public health approach.
