Clot in transit in a patient with massive pulmonary embolism: A case report of successful catheter directed thrombectomy

Abstract

Clot in transit is a potentially catastrophic entity in the setting of a massive pulmonary embolism. There have been previous reports of various therapeutic strategies however the optimal treatment is unknown. We present a case of massive pulmonary embolism complicated by clot in transit which was quickly recognized and expeditiously treated with catheter directed thrombectomy with a good clinical outcome.
