Abstract

A novel amidoxime and polyamine bifunctional modified polyacrylonitrile-polyamidoxime-based fiber adsorbent (PAN-PAO-NH2-AO) was prepared using wet-spun and hydrothermal methods. The structure, morphology, and properties of the fibers were characterized by various methods to demonstrate the attachment of amidoxime and polyamine groups onto the fibers. The highest adsorption capacity of the material reached 236.3 mg/g at pH 5 and 298 K. The study of the adsorption mechanism of the fibers showed that the lone pair of electrons of the N and O atoms coordinated with U(VI) by XPS. The results show that PAN-PAO-NH2-AO fibers are a potential decontamination material for uranium-containing wastewater.
