Abstract

In 2023, we described a new taxon Europotamogale melkarti Crespo, Cruzado-Caballero, and Castillo, 2023, based on a single dental remain (Crespo et al., 2023). Furió et al. (2024) subsequently invalidated this taxon in their response, which contained numerous errors and misinterpretations of the fossil record, the literature, and our original article. Here, we systematically address the principal errors made by Furió et al. in their response.
