Abstract
Edible Jumpers
Animated food can more effectively attract the attention of both humans and animals, providing a more palatable experience by defying conventional expectations. In article number 2401230 Dario Floreano, Bokeon Kwak, and Juliette Hars present a method for designing and manufacturing small edible jumpers made from a gelatin mixture. These edible jumpers can be loaded with a humidity-sensitive edible latch that automatically releases stored elastic energy through rapid shell snapping. Their potential application is showcased in the context of an animated dessert plate toward the multi-sensory dining experience.
