Abstract

Blue carbon ecosystems (BCEs), such as salt marshes, are critical in climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation and their ecosystem services. However, due to a lack of research, their carbon sequestration potential in Mexico remains poorly understood. La Ribera, Baja California Sur, exemplifies an under-researched salt marsh that provides essential benefits, including surface water for drinking, habitat, and cultural services.
