Abstract

The host-guest binding of Cucurbit[7]uril to a methylpyridinium-functionalized Co(II)-terpyridine complex shifts the spin equilibrium to the low-spin state (ΔT1/2 = 77 K) via secondary coordination sphere perturbation, providing new insights into tuning spin-crossover behaviors.
