[Splanchnic artery aneurysms : from symptoms to treatment].

Abstract

The epidemiology of visceral artery aneurysms is understudied due to its rarity, leading to variability in incidence estimates. The average age of manifestation is 66 years, with a predominance in Caucasian men. Symptoms vary based on the location of the aneurysm and are often discovered incidentally, but their clinical significance lies in the risk of rupture, which can be potentially fatal. This review covers the epidemiology, pathophysiology, anatomical locations of splanchnic aneurysms, their frequency, as well as the clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic specificities, providing primary care practitioners with an overview of the treatment options for these rare and complex pathologies.
