Substantial fungal diversity was observed in a few ticks, whereas culturable bacteria displayed a broader distribution and diversity across tick species. Interestingly, the diversity of culturable bacteria and fungi revealed a microbiome structure that reflected the ecological niches of the tick host, indicating habitat-specific microbial associations and a potential ecological role in tick biology.
