Biological Tissue Microstructures
The Morpho butterfly wing is a natural photonic crystal that interacts selectively with polarized light. Lisa V. Poulikakos and co-workers interface the Morpho wing with breast cancer tissue sections and illuminate the system with polarized light for quantitative, contact- and stain-free assessment of tissue microstructures.
