Abstract

The review is focused on the features of catalytic and noncatalytic homogeneous reactions of furans, formylfurans, and acetylfurans with hydrogen peroxide. The differences in the reaction mechanisms, product compositions, and reaction rates depending on the substituent in the furan ring and the type of the homogeneous catalyst are discussed. Our results were compared with the data on oxidation of furans with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of other homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts.
