Abstract
In this paper, a method of harmonic predistortion network is proposed, and the concept of dynamic harmonic control is proposed, that is, in the design of power amplifiers, by integrating part of the harmonic control circuit into the package, adjusting and realizing harmonic pre-control, and using the phase shift of the parasitic network of the package, the second and third harmonic load impedances can be effectively controlled to achieve dynamic matching of harmonics of different frequencies, and the output topology of the inverse Class F power amplifier (PA) at 2.45 GHz frequency is realized by this method. To verify the proposed method and concept, an inverse class F PA was designed, and an inverse class F PA was fabricated using die GaN HEMT. The simulation results achieved the expected waveform shaping and drain impedance, and the measurements showed that the fabricated inverse Class F PA could deliver 47.8 dBm saturation output power and 76% drain efficiency for a wide range of communication systems.
