Abstract

This systematic integrative review identified barriers and facilitators of transition into nursing education roles in practice and academia, using articles published since the last systematic integrative review on this topic in 2018. Five databases were searched; 30 articles met inclusion and quality criteria. Six key contributors were identified: orientation, mentoring, preparation for teaching, peer support, structured fellowship programs, and professional identity formation. Recommendations for supporting nurse educator transition are provided.
