April's reviewers of the month

Abstract

Like most journals, BJUI relies on the hard work and dedication of its peer reviewers and we are grateful to them all. Each month the Editorial Team nominates peer reviewers whose reviews have stood out for their quality and timeliness and those selected as the best are highlighted on this page in recognition of their exceptional work.

As a member of several international societies in uropathology (EAU, ESMO, the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP), and the Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS)), Professor Compérat serves several editorial boards and is recognised as co-author of WHO Tumours of the Urinary System and Male Genital Organs (4th ed.) and is Co-author and Editorial member of the 5^th Edition.

Professor Compérat is equally dedicated to educational efforts in her specialised field (she has held a teaching position at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris since 2002), and is now teaching at the Medical University of Vienna (since 2021). She is a frequent contributor to educational exchanges of the International Academy of Pathology.

She is the president of the Austrian Society of Pathology (ÖGPath and president of the vFWf (Association for Science and Research).

Laurence is nearing completion of his PhD at the University of Melbourne, supervised by Professor Nathan Lawrentschuk and Dr Dixon Woon. During this time, he has participated in multi-centre trials and published in several international peer-reviewed journals. His research includes exploring the utility of PSMA PET scans for active surveillance in prostate cancer, the application of AI for interpreting PSMA PET scans, and leveraging advanced imaging to optimise active surveillance strategies. Other innovative projects that Laurence is involved with include the Penile Health App for AI-driven penile cancer detection.

Laurence has also presented his work at international conferences such as AUA, EAU, UAA, and USANZ. He has received multiple accolades, including the Best Poster Award at AUA 2024, postgraduate research scholarship from Epworth E.J. Whitten Prostate Cancer Research centre, Epworth Researcher Grant and ACMAV Research Grant.
