Abstract
Parkinson's disease is an adult neurodegenerative disorder whose prevalence continues to rise. There is no proven therapeutic strategy capable of interfering with its unfavourable evolutionary profile. Current treatments remain symptomatic. This article proposes to guide practitioners through the various therapeutic strategies for motor manifestations available in Belgium, from first-line drug treatments to the more complex options offered at the most advanced stages, such as deep brain stimulation or levo-dopa infusions. Regardless disease duration, maintaining quality of life involves essential complementary interventions such as regular physical exercise and physiotherapy. The multidisciplinary approach is strengthened according to individual needs as the disease progresses towards the complex stage.
