Myoepithelial carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma of the maxillary sinus: a case report

Here, we present the case of a 58-year-old male patient who presented with swelling of the palate. A prior diagnosis of a “benign tumor” had been established. Oral examination revealed a nodular lesion on the hard palate measuring 4 cm, firm on palpation and partially purplish, with a significant increase noted over the past 4 months. Radiographic imaging demonstrated involvement of the entire maxillary sinus. Histopathological examination revealed dysplastic clear cell nests and dysplastic epithelioid cell cords. Morphological and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed the diagnosis of myoepithelial carcinoma. The patient was referred for treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the cancer hospital.
