Osteonecrosis of the jaw evolution in patients with breast cancer, with 3 years of follow-up: report of a case

Abstract

Zoledronic acid is one of the therapeutic alternatives in patients with breast cancer, to inhibit bone resorption in patients with metastatic breast cancer lesions. This paper aims to present a clinical evolution of osteonecrosis of the jaw associated with the use of medication, with 3 years of follow-up. A 58-year-old Caucasian female patient, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, used zoledronic acid once a month for 2 years. After 2 years, she presented bone exposure in his jaw due to the use of a poorly adapted prosthesis. The surgical approach had to be maxillary bone removal. Patient with tomographic follow-up for 3 years. It shows us the relevance of Dental clinicians of dental monitoring before, during, and after starting these medications.
