Abstract
In this paper, a wideband triple-resonance cavity-backed slot antenna with a simple structure is proposed. The antenna is composed of a feeding probe, a metal cavity, and a rectangular radiating slot on the top wall. The rectangular slot can produce a resonant-iris mode, the feeding probe can produce a coaxial-cavity mode, and the metal cavity can produce a cavity mode. By combining these three mixed resonant modes in a single cavity, the antenna can achieve a wide operating bandwidth as well as a simple antenna structure. The measured results demonstrate that the proposed triple-resonance full-metal cavity-backed slot antenna can achieve 70% bandwidth and also has a stable radiation pattern over the entire operating band.
